Developed in collaboration with Subverted, a cybersecurity company focused on expertise, training, and solutions, this programme offers a comprehensive dive into offensive security, defensive operations, and strategic governance.
Through hands-on engagement with security tools and technologies, learners develop analytical capabilities and technical proficiency demanded by the cybersecurity industry. The programme covers a wide range of content, including penetration testing, security operations, and governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC).

This programme is ideal for individuals looking to build a solid foundation for a career in cybersecurity, including aspiring Penetration Testers, SOC Analysts, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Analysts. It is also suitable specifically for graduates and professionals seeking to upskill, reskill, or switch careers.
- You will learn:
- Professional Foundations leadership and skills development
- Technical deep-dive into security practices
- Offensive security, defensive operations, and strategic governance
- Hands-on engagement with security tools and technologies
- Cybersecurity fundamentals, including basic IT skills and containerization
- How to find and exploit vulnerabilities in systems through penetration testing
- Theoretical foundations of defensive operations, technical techniques for using SIEM and EDR technologies

This programme is a total of 7 months. The 7 month total duration includes 3 months of Professional Foundations training.
Professional Foundations is a component of both programmes that focuses on leadership and professional skills development, including soft skills and leadership training, CV writing, and interview preparation.
All learners in the ALX ecosystem are required to take Professional Foundations before starting their tech specialisation. Professional Foundations is 3 months long and the duration of this training is always factored into the total duration of our programmes as listed on the website.
Professional Foundations is the critical first step for all ALX learners. It is designed to help you build a strong, essential base for your future career success.
While you may be eager to jump straight into technical skills, this programme equips you with the 8 key meta-skills needed to thrive in any career in any field. These aren’t just academic concepts; they’re real-world, hands-on skills like effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leading yourself and others.
The access fee is $5 per month, which learners are expected to pay for the duration of their chosen programme(s).
In order to access the ALX ecosystem and your chosen programme, you will be required to pay the $5 All Access, giving you unlimited access to the full ALX programme portfolio, community, events and activities, rewards, benefits and, of course, our partners.
If you meet our eligibility requirements and successfully register for an ALX Programme of your choice, the cost of your programme will be sponsored. ALX All Access also provides you access to discounted third-party certification costs for programmes offering access to industry certifications such as AWS and Salesforce.
You will be able to register for as many programmes as you like concurrently, so long as all prerequisite requirements and business rules are followed.
Learners can choose to pay either in their local currency or in USD. ALX fees are charged in USD and therefore are subject to exchange rate fluctuations.

All Access payments are non-refundable and compulsory for learners to complete their programme. You will not receive a refund if you are unable to complete the programme, however you will be able to pause your programme and restart your learning at a later date. Please note that the deferment cut-off dates vary by proramme and after these dates you would need to re-enroll into the next cohort.
The technical and professional skills learned in this programme prepare you for a variety of roles in the cybersecurity industry. You will be equipped to pursue roles ranging from penetration testing to security operations and governance, risk management, and compliance.
A. ALX Learners have the option to defer their programme start date with the following guidance:
1. Your first All Access Payment is non-refundable: ALX All Access gives you access the full community, events, content and benefits and you will remain active on the system, even if you defer your programme start date. You will have the option to freeze your monthly payments until your deferred start date; in this case your next payment will be due by your new cohort start date.
2. You will not be able to carry your learning progress forward and will be required to start your cohort from week 1 – with exception of deferment after successful completion of Professional Foundations. Once a learner successfully completes Professional Foundations, deferment to any Tech Specialisation is possible in accordance with the learning calendar.
3. You will not be required to go through the admissions process and will be able to enroll into your new cohort through the ALX eHUB.
